Live and work on the farm for a few weeks or a few months, and learn natural farming by doing it.
We host students, young farmers and volunteers from Nepal and abroad. You will join daily farm work: preparing jeevamrit, sowing, mulching, caring for animals, harvesting and running the nursery. Along the way you learn the reasons behind each practice.
Stays are flexible. Tell us how long you would like to come and what you hope to learn, and we will plan it together.
Hands-on courses in natural farming, organic farming and permaculture design.
Our trainings are practical and held in the field. Topics include making jeevamrit, beejamrit and compost, mulching and soil health, multi-layer vegetable farming, food forest design, nursery management, integrated rice–duck–fish farming, and whole-farm permaculture design.
We run one-day workshops as well as longer courses for farmer groups, cooperatives, schools and organisations, in Nepali or English. Courses can also be arranged at your location.
Walk through a working natural farm and see how a living, chemical-free farm fits together.
Halo Farm is one of the few farms in the eastern Terai where you can see natural farming, permaculture and integrated livestock and fish farming working side by side. Our guided visits take you through the food forest, the multi-layer vegetable beds, the pond and the nursery. There is time to ask questions, taste what is in season and leave with ideas you can use at home.
We welcome families, school and college groups, farmers, researchers and travellers. Visits are by appointment, so message us to fix a date.
Our fields are open to agriculture institutions and students researching natural and organic systems.
For agriculture institutions: we partner on field trials, long-term soil health monitoring, varietal evaluation of local seeds and studies of integrated farming systems.
For agriculture students: we host thesis research, practicums and internship placements. As AFU graduates ourselves, we know what a good field site needs: honest records, space for replicated plots and people who care about the results.
Technical support for civil society organisations working on natural farming, organic farming and permaculture.
We support CSOs and NGOs in designing and running NF/OF/PC programmes. This covers farmer training curricula, demonstration plots, farm and landscape design, and monitoring of soil and yields.
Our team combines hands-on farming, government extension experience and digital communication, so we can help from the field level through to reporting and outreach.
